Can I apply to the VGSF even though I did not yet finish my graduate studies?
Yes, you are welcome to apply even if you have not finished your graduate studies yet. However, you should be confident to finish your graduate studies by end of June.
Can I apply to the VGSF even though I did not yet take GRE/GMAT/TOEFL tests?
Yes. What matters is that you can demonstrate your analytical/mathematical skills and your command of English. This can be done in many ways, depending on your prior education. Please make sure that you send transcripts of any certificates, diplomas, etc. you have obtained. Nevertheless, the GRE/GMAT/TOEFL tests are strongly recommended for VGSF applicants.
What is the "self-statement of purpose"?
The statement of purpose is not the proposal for the thesis. It should provide a description of your background, your research interests and career goals. Two or three pages should be enough.
Do I have to apply for admission to the PhD studies at the University of Vienna or the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) before I apply to the VGSF?
No! Since the VGSF runs the joint PhD program of University of Vienna and WU, prior admission to those universities is not required.
Can I attend selected VGSF PhD-program courses if I am not admitted to the PhD in Finance?
No. Courses of the VGSF PhD-program can only be attended if you are a registered student of PhD in Finance.
Are there any fees to be paid?
No.
How much is the financial support granted to VGSF scholarship holders?
The financial support is about 1800 Euros gross per month. After deducting insurance, tax, etc. it is about 1300 Euros. It is enough to cover the living costs in Vienna, such that students can concentrate on their studies.
