Originally from Essen, Germany, Maximilian earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the Humboldt-University of Berlin in 2011. He got his master's degree in Banking and Finance at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland in 2013 and started his PhD studies in 2014 at the Vienna Graduate School of Finance. In his master's thesis, he estimates the correlations between commodities and traditional financial assets using a DCC-GARCH model. He shows how the correlations increased dramatically during the 2007 financial crisis and stayed high during the subsequent period. Maximilians main research interests are in the field of market microstructure, risk management and commodities. Next to his professional interests, Maximilian is interested in the humanities, especially in literature and philosophy. He follows current political and social debates and likes reading classic and contemporary literature as well as traveling and skiing.
